Segment based on a smart tag

See how to use smart tags, visitor journey attributes, and action maps to chat with customers who view your new product.

Scenario

You have created a webpage announcing a new product. You want to segment those customers who have viewed the entire page and start a chat with them.


Summary of steps

  1. Create a smart tag.
  2. Create a segment that uses the smart tag.
  3. Create an action map to engage the users.


Create a ScrollToBottom smart tag

  1. In Smart tags, click Create smart tag.
  2. In the Name box, type scrollToBottom.
  3. Under Type, click page.
  4. Click the Active button so it is On.
  5. In the URL contains box, type the URL of the page where you want to deploy this smart tag.
  6. In the Code box, define code similar to that in the following section.

Create a ScrollToBottom segment

  1. In Segments, under Visitor journey, click Add first activity.
  2. In the Attribute box, select Event name.
  3. In the Operator box, select equals.
  4. In the Value box, select your scrollToBottom smart tag.


Create the ScrolledToBottom action map

  1. In Action maps, click Create action map.
  2. Name the action map ScrolledToBottom.
  3. Under Select trigger, click Segment match.
  4. Click Select segments and select the ScrolledToBottom segment.
  5. Under Configure User Engagement, Webchat is automatically selected.
  6. Click Configure and designthe Webchat however you like.


Test your solution

  1. Open Live Now.
  2. Open your website.
  3. Initiate a visit and go to the page that you are tracking.
  4. Scroll to the bottom.
  5. Refresh Live Now and verify that a new user appears and that the user has been added to the ScrolltoBottom segment.
